DLT:
  • Design unique structures using Actors
  • Create a cannon-launching game that uses impulse
  • Use code blocks to program projectiles
  • Create games that shoot projectiles at targets
  • Group elements using classes in order to create more specific styles on their website.

Vocabulary:
  • CSS Class - An identifier that allows multiple elements in an HTML document to be styled in the same way
  • Impulse: A strong, sudden force
  • Projectile: A moving object (initially launched by a force), where the only force acting upon it is gravity

Activity:
  • Tynker 202: Impulses - In this lesson, students will learn how to apply impulses to Actors by programming cannonball launching games! Additionally, students will learn how to apply the "hide," "show," "impulse," and "point at" code blocks to simulate the cannonball shooting out of the cannon.Due by the end of class.

  • Code.org Lesson 17: CSS Classes - This lesson expands on the CSS that students have already learned by introducing classes, which allow web developers to treat groups of elements they want styled differently than other elements of the same type. Students first investigate and modify classes on various pages, then create their own classes and use them to better control the appearance of their pages. They then reflect on how they could use this skill to improve their team websites. (Complete exercises in code.org by the end of class today.)
