DLT:
  • Analyze a presentation that illustrates the formation of a tsunami
  • Use code blocks to create a presentation about earthquakes and tsunamis

Activities:
  • TRON Project - Create a game based on the basic concepts of the classic Tron movie. You will create this game by starting a new project in the project sections and name it "TRON." It will not be graded if not named TRON. Your game must include at a minimum:
    • at least 2 characters. 1 or both controlled by user(s).
    • use of pen drawing
    • changing size to create effects like jumping
    • detecting colors
    • avoiding obstacles
    • clear rules on the game play and object of the game
Due by the end of class 2/20 Period 3 or 2/21 periods 4,6.

  • Tynker Earth Science: Earthquakes and Tsunamis - In this lesson, students will watch an interactive project to learn about the relationship between earthquakes and tsunamis. Next, students will follow a step-by-step tutorial in the DIY (do-it-yourself) module to create their own version of the project they just watched. Activities include animating different Actors, adding descriptions about the formation of a tsunami, and programming Actors to change costumes. "Step 7" of the tutorial includes bonus activities, which encourage students to play a sound when the tsunami is created (hint: use the "play sound" code block) and animate Tsunami Sam to talk.
